Large Nutcrackers

How to Choose the Right Size Nutcracker

The right size depends on where the nutcracker will stand and how far away people will see it:

• Front porches and home entrances: 4–5 ft nutcrackers.
• Lobbies, storefronts, and double doors: 6 ft nutcrackers, often in matching pairs.
• Plazas, malls, and building entrances: 9–12 ft nutcrackers that stay visible from across the street or the room.

Leave enough space around the base so the figure doesn't block foot traffic, and check the ceiling height for indoor displays.

Light-Up vs. Unlit Nutcrackers

Light-up nutcrackers glow after dark, so they're the better choice for displays people see in the evening, like home entrances, storefronts, and holiday events. Unlit nutcrackers show off their paint and detail during the day and work well indoors or in spaces that are already well lit. A spotlight aimed from the ground is an easy way to keep an unlit figure visible at night.

How to Display Large Nutcrackers

The classic arrangement is a matching pair on each side of a front door or entrance, like guards at a palace gate. At home, nutcrackers also look great on the porch, along the walkway, or at the driveway entrance. For a bigger scene, group nutcrackers of different heights, or combine them with the nutcracker archway, wreaths, garlands, and gift box décor for a full toyland display.
