A Word from Our Founder
For founder Dan Casterella, American Christmas has always been about one thing: creating joy. After decades of designing large-scale holiday displays, the most meaningful moments for him aren’t tied to installations or opening nights, they happen when the decorations are already in place and people are simply enjoying them.
That sense of wonder is especially visible in the days leading up to Christmas, when the installations have fully become part of daily life. On mid-December evenings, Dan often walks through the city, observing families pause, take photos, and simply enjoy being present in the moment. “That’s my favorite thing to do,” he shares, “watching people enjoy the product.”
The idea for Christmas in America grew from a desire to make that feeling more accessible. Dan envisioned a space where holiday magic wasn’t reserved for landmark locations or special occasions, but something local families could experience together.
“I wanted to create a space where people could come to get some Christmas joy,” he explains, “without having to sacrifice something else to get it.”
That philosophy continues to guide everything we do: creating décor that brings people together, sparks tradition, and makes the season feel meaningful year after year.
